How Much Does an Epoxy Garage Floor Cost in DFW?

Real per-square-foot ranges for flake, quartz and metallic floors in Dallas–Fort Worth, what a typical garage totals, and what pushes the price up or down.

Short answer: a professionally installed garage floor in DFW typically runs $4 to $7 per sq ft for flake, $6 to $9 for quartz and $10 and up for metallic. Most 2-car garages land between $1,600 and $3,500 for a flake floor. The slab's condition is what moves you up or down the range, so every floor still gets a free on-site quote.

What does each floor system cost per square foot?

SystemTypical DFW priceBest for
Flake (epoxy base + polyaspartic topcoat)$4 – $7 per sq ftMost garages. Hides dust and tire marks, textured grip.
Quartz broadcast$6 – $9 per sq ftHeavy use, wet areas, patios, commercial floors that need grip.
Metallic epoxy$10+ per sq ftShowpiece garages, shops, showrooms and interiors.

These are installed prices, including diamond grinding, normal crack repair, every coat and cleanup. Flake is the most popular choice by far, and it's where most of our garage work falls. Metallic costs more because it takes more material, more coats and hand work to get the finish right. See the flake, quartz and metallic pages for what each one looks like.

What does a whole garage cost?

GarageTypical sizeFlakeMetallic
1-car250 – 300 sq ft$1,000 – $2,100$2,500+
2-car400 – 500 sq ft$1,600 – $3,500$4,000+
3-car600 – 750 sq ft$2,400 – $5,250$6,000+

Our minimum job size is 200 sq ft. Smaller areas like a single walkway or a utility room can often be added to a garage job.

What makes the price go up or down?

  • Slab condition. A clean slab with a few hairline cracks lands at the low end. Wide cracks, spalling, pitting or heaved joints take more repair time and material.
  • An old coating or paint. Anything already on the floor has to be ground off before a new system will bond. Removal typically adds about $1.50 to $3 per sq ft.
  • Moisture. If the slab is pushing moisture vapor, it needs a moisture-mitigating primer first. We test every slab before we quote it, so you'll know up front.
  • Size. Larger floors cost less per square foot, because setup and travel are spread over more area.
  • The system and finish. Flake costs less than quartz, and quartz costs less than metallic. Flake size, color blends and full versus partial broadcast also play a part.
  • Extras. Coating the stem walls (the short concrete curb around the garage), adding extra slip resistance or a thicker topcoat for a shop floor all add to the job.

Why are some quotes much cheaper?

When a quote comes in well under these ranges, something is usually missing. The common shortcuts:

  • Acid etching instead of diamond grinding. It's faster and cheaper, and it's the leading reason garage floors peel within a couple of years.
  • No moisture test. Coating over a wet slab leads to bubbles and peeling, whatever the product.
  • A single coat or no real topcoat. Without a UV-stable, hot-tire-rated topcoat, the floor yellows and lifts.
  • Thin or water-based material. It looks fine on day one and wears through in high-traffic spots.

DIY kits from the big box stores run about $1 to $3 per sq ft in materials. They're a single thin coat over etched concrete, which is why they rarely last in a Texas garage. For more on why systems fail, read epoxy vs polyaspartic vs polyurea.

What's included in our price?

  1. Free on-site walkthrough and moisture test.
  2. Diamond grinding of the whole floor. We never acid etch.
  3. Crack and joint repair.
  4. Epoxy base coat with full flake broadcast, or the quartz or metallic system you choose.
  5. Polyaspartic topcoat for hot tires, chemicals and UV.
  6. Written 10-year warranty against peeling and discoloration.

Your quote lists the scope line by line, so you can compare it fairly against anyone else's. Patios, pool decks, driveways and commercial floors are priced separately. See patio, pool deck and commercial.

Common questions

How much does it cost to epoxy a 2-car garage in DFW?

Most 2-car garages (about 400 to 500 sq ft) run $1,600 to $3,500 for a flake floor with a polyaspartic topcoat. Metallic floors start around $4,000. Slab repairs or removing an old coating add to that.

How much is epoxy flooring per square foot?

In Dallas–Fort Worth, flake floors typically cost $4 to $7 per sq ft installed, quartz $6 to $9, and metallic $10 and up.

Is there a minimum job size?

Yes. Our minimum is 200 sq ft. Smaller areas can often be added to a larger job.

Why don't you give exact prices over the phone?

Because the slab decides the price. Cracks, old coatings and moisture all change the number, so we measure and moisture-test first. Estimates are free and usually scheduled within 48 hours.

Is a professional floor worth it over a DIY kit?

For most Texas garages, yes. DIY kits cost $1 to $3 per sq ft but go on as a single thin coat over etched concrete, so they tend to peel under hot tires. A professional system is diamond-ground, multi-coat and warrantied.
